Almost 2 weeks ago, my nephew was born. He is adorable & his parents named him Ezra. He has wonderful parents. My baby sister Jami & her husband are both with Ezra now at Primary Children's Hospital in UT.
In my brother-in-law (Brian)'s words,
"Shortly after he (Ezra Nolan) was born he was diagnosed with Pierre Robin Sequence which is a very small lower jaw, a retracted tongue, and cleft palate. He was immediately moved into the NICU. Ezra ... had to have a gauvage tube inserted through his nose and into his stomach. The sequence also makes it difficult for him to breathe making it necessary for him to always be on his side or stomach. She (the doctor) told us that she believed he needed a Mandibular Distraction (MD) which is a procedure that actually stretches the lower jaw to match the size of the upper jaw."
We feel so far away. Jami & I have always been close & I wish I could be there to help her in some way. We pray for them and Ezra every day and hope that our prayers are felt. Welcome to the world, Ezra!! We love you!
