The TOOTH Fairy and the FOREHEAD Fairy

Today began as a red-letter day for Conor. He lost his 2nd tooth at school. (Due to positive peer pressure there were no tears, even though at home only hours before there was some drama over it's pending loss.) Then he got to have his mommy in his classroom for an hour or so, have lunch with her, and she stayed for recess. Cool. Someone call the Tooth Fairy!

Things took a turn for the worse around 5:30pm when suddenly a little girl from our neighborhood came running into our house yelling, "Conor needs help! He is hurt and he's screaming and blood is gushing out of his head!" That made me drop my pork loin in its dish pretty quickly, as I yelled down to Brian that we needed him outside. The firefighter/EMT always tends to calm things down a bit, particularly if blood is involved. We both ran out to find poor little Conor crying with blood all over his hands and clothes. His eyebrow was saturated with blood and the cut looked much worse than it actually turned out to be. Conor was playing with our neighbors and apparently a little boy we didn't know accidently swung a stick when Conor was running towards him. Luckily for us our pediatrician's office was still open so we didn't have to go to the ER. And the Forehead Fairy must have been called because 1. The stick didn't make it into Conor's eye and 2. the doctor was able to use Dermabond Topical Skin Adhesive on the wound instead of doing stitches. Conor was so scared to have his skin "glued back together" but he remained tough and was super still while she performed the glue surgery. ;)

What a day!

Oh, JS & S, I doubt it will be our last injury. He's only SIX. We have years to go. Today we was flying down our street on his scooter and I kept thinking if he fell again the doctor would question the parents! ;)

Look at those big beautiful eyes! Conor you are so cool with that bandaid and your forehead glued together. I'm telling you, Superglue is our friend (with parent's supervision of course!). Hope it heals up well and no scar too =)
