Doing the Dishes

Once I posted that I was thankful we didn't have a dishwasher.  What was I thinking?  ;) Sometimes I am far from grateful to be doing dishes for what seems like 1/2 of my existence.  Lately Brian has been working non-stop.  (What a guy!  He is completely willing to work for days on end, from the fire house to driving oil, functioning on little or no sleep.)  I have been Domestic Donna, doing dishes and dreaming of descent dinners without Brian's presence.

[In spite of the tone of the above paragraph, we have much to be grateful for.] 

Luckily it's December.  Our tradition of posting all Christmas cards above our sink actually keeps me happily and gratefully doing dishes.  It's so fun to look up and stare at all of our friends and family!  It seriously makes me smile, even while my fingers are pruned.

 

ps.  I left some dishes unwashed to add character and meaning to the post.  Typically my house is quite tidy and the sink is sparkling clean!  And our children are well fed and pleasant.  And there is joy in every sound.
