Forty, and Feeling Foxy

Silk-screened across the rear end of my mom's bright turquoise sweatpants were the words, "Over Forty and Feelin' Foxy."  She wore those sweats often enough that the rainbow-colored letters faded.  Those (along with her cat-eye glasses) are definitely in the top 10 fashion memories of the 80's.


Today is my 40th birthday.  This year I fully intend to spend more time "Feelin' foxy" and less time worrying that I'm not!

The kids made these signs for me, and taped them to our house, with the help of our dear friend Anna.  When Brian and I drove into the driveway, these homemade signs were a very happy sight to see!  *

I am the luckiest birthday girl!  Not only do I have a wonderful husband and 2 awesome kids, but I have some outstanding friends too!  Anna the banana made me a blueberry cake (recipe from the Barefoot Contessa) which was divine.  Blueberries are my absolute favorite, and a birthday tradition.  She also watched the kids for almost 4 hours!  I edited these photos with an antique look to dramatize the whole 40th birthday thing.  he he he he...

* Megan's sign says that she missed me because Brian and I spent 1/2 of my birthday together at the Boston Temple.  We were able to do ordinance work on behalf of both of his great-grandparents.  It was one of the most memorable and significant days of our lives.  Amazing.  And, we really appreciated our friends who helped the kids have great fun while we were away.
