Hymn #241

I was having a rough week.  My online course is doing me in, even though I have absolutely loved what I've learned about phonemics and phonics thus far.  I feel like I am being pulled in 100 directions and I get anxious at night about how I am going to get things done!  Being a mom for me is already really challenging and adding a fast-paced course has possibly stretched my little brain too much.  Tuesday morning I thought maybe I ought to go to the temple.  In spite of the fact that I felt like I didn't have time to go, I listened to that thought and I went.

While waiting in the temple, I picked up the Hymn Book on the bench and opened it up to look for the words to the song that was being played by the organ.  I opened it instead to Hymn #241.  It is entitled COUNT YOUR MANY BLESSINGS.  I'll be honest - I immediately began to cry and felt like God was telling me to open my eyes to all of the blessings I have.  Sometimes I just forget.

Happy Month of Thanksgiving!!

Just in case you didn't click on the link to the hymn, here is the text:

1. When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings; name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.
[Chorus]
Count your blessings;
Name them one by one.
Count your blessings;
See what God hath done.
Count your blessings;
Name them one by one.
Count your many blessings;
See what God hath done.
2. Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings; ev’ry doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.
3. When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you his wealth untold.
Count your many blessings; money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven nor your home on high.
4. So amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged; God is over all.
Count your many blessings; angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

I am thankful for the blessing of having a sister who keeps up on her blog and shares life's tender mercies with us. I am glad you followed your heart and went to the temple. I also love we can have personal revelation! I have been thinking about you lately...isn't it funny when we need to do something the most, we usually skip it thinking we have no time (ie; nutrition, exercise, religion). Thanks for sharing. I love you and hope you do well on your online course =) Only 4 days till Turkey Day. Are you running? I will go for a walk this year!!!

Oh Jen! I miss you and your family so much! You are a shining example. I'm sorry you're feeling so stressed. Take it from someone who has tried to juggle the school and kids and life, etc...It's worth it! Stressful but worth it. Just do what you can and Heavenly Father helps pick up the rest. It's not always pretty, but it works. You are a fantastic person and I really admire you! Best of luck!
