Nine on Nine Nine

HAPPY "GOLDEN BIRTHDAY" to CONOR!!

Conor turned 9 today:  09/09

A person's Golden or Grand Birthday, also referred to as their "Lucky Birthday", "Champagne Birthday" or "Star Birthday", occurs when they turn the age of their birth day (e.g., when someone born on the 21st of the month turns 21).

Phew!  Conor had a great Golden Birthday, in spite of the fact that it was going to be the "worst birthday ever" since it fell on a Sunday this year.  Sundays are church days and let's face it, a nine-year-old isn't too excited about getting dressed up and sitting quietly for 3 hours for his birthday.  

For Conor's Golden Birthday I made a Golden Treasure Hunt.  I blew up 10 balloons and inside each one was a hint about where he would find a gift.  This allowed the fun to continue for a good portion of the day, stopping to assemble a toy, eat a snack, talk to a well-wisher on the phone or play.  Then we had a Surprise Birthday (Sponge Bob) Piñata in the backyard.  Oh to be NINE.

We keep a tidy house, except on special days like birthdays.  HA!

A package from TX was a highlight -- "Origami on the Go!"

Anna collected the candy in her "marsupium," Judy was the engineer who helped attach Sponge Bob to the ropes Brian hung up before leaving to work this morning, Conor is disguised as Sponge Bob, and Megan is proudly holding Sponge Bob's leg that she hit off while striking the piñata.

Mom is looking a little tired from staying up until nearly 2 am last night making pumpkin pies, but it's all worth it!

I can't believe our firstborn is NINE!!

Mom is in trouble for this.  I allowed Conor to light his own birthday candles.  Yes, it's a fire hazard.
